Associate Researchers Program – IPADES
The Institute for Peace and Development (IPADES) promotes the Associate Researchers Program with the goal of strengthening the production of critical knowledge on peace, human rights, justice, and freedom in the region. This initiative is aimed at individuals with a strong research vocation and ethical commitment who wish to contribute to social change through rigorous analysis and transformative proposals.
Program Objective
To promote research aligned with the strategic focus areas of IPADES, particularly those that integrate innovative and intergenerational approaches to justice, democracy, and human rights.
Modality
The program is conducted virtually, allowing participation from researchers based anywhere in the Americas, with technical support, training spaces, and digital collaboration.

Professional Internships and TCU
Professional Internships and University Community Service Program (TCU)
The Professional Internships and University Community Service (TCU) Program of the Institute for the Promotion of Peace and Development (IPADES) is aimed at students from universities across the Americas who are required to complete a professional internship, practicum, or community service project as part of their degree completion requirements.
This program offers meaningful experiences within projects related to democratic governance, human rights, civic participation, and community development, with a special focus on Central America.
Program Objective
To provide practical training and technical guidance in initiatives that promote peace, justice, and democratic strengthening, enabling participants to develop skills in political advocacy, social auditing, and community engagement.
Participation Modalities
• Professional Internship: For students seeking to strengthen specific skills in research, strategic communication, or organizational management.
• University Community Service (TCU): For students who must fulfill a university-mandated service component by participating in civic education and social engagement processes.
Geographic Modality
• In-person: Exclusively available to individuals residing in Costa Rica.
• Remote: Open to undergraduate students from any university across the Americas.

General Requirements
Applications are open only to individuals with functional proficiency in Spanish and/or English. Priority is given to students in degree programs aligned with IPADES’s strategic focus areas.
